How to enable wireless Security (WEP) in WR-AR2317

1. Access the web interface of the router (open your web browser like Internet Explorer, in the address box type 192.168.1.1 and press enter.

                             

   2. You’ll get the login page enter the Username and Password, the default Username is admin and the password is admin as well.

                                                                       

3. When you click OK button after typing the Username and Password, you'll get the screen of  Pluscom where you can change the settings of your router.
 

4. Select Wireless from the left panel, in the sub menus of wireless choose Wireless Settings.

                           

5. *  Check the box "Enable Wireless Security"
6. *  In the "Security Type" Select " WEP"

7. * Select "automatic" as "Security Option"
8. * In the "WEP Key Format"  "select Hexadecimal"

9. *Select "key1", in the "WEP Key" type a 10 Hexadecimal key ( you can type numbers 0 to 9 and/or Alphabets A/a to F/f ) and select "64Bit" in the "Key Type" .
 

 

                           

                                                                         

                                                                                                                   Now click "Save" button.

Note:- As soon as you click "Save" button your system will lose connection to the router, search for wireless networks, select Pluscom (SSID of the router) and  click Connect. The router will ask for the "Network key" put the network key means security key (Hexadecimal key).

 

Note: - If you can not get to step 2 after you type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of the internet explorer then go to control panel there you will find "Network connections" or "Network and sharing center "double click on that there you will find your "local area connection " right click on your "local area connection" you will find there "properties" click on that you will get a new window in general tab you will see a white box .in a white box you will see a "internet protocol ( TCP / IP )" double click  on that.

                                                                   

 than you will get" internet protocol (TCP / IP ) properties" window . select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server automatically". Click "Ok" "Ok".
 

                                                                   

Then go to your browser properties (let say we have Internet Explorer) by clicking on "Tools" menu and selecting "Internet Option". On the "Connection" tab select "Never dial a connection" and make sure that the white box should be clear means there should no dial-up connection.

                                                                  

Now click on "LAN Settings…" (See figure above). A pop-up window "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" will appear un-check all three check boxes on this window. Click "Ok" "Ok".
